About
Purpose
Options Door is a site that sets out, on the basis of facts, the politics and policies of countries around the world, of regional bodies and international organisations formed by several countries, and of local administrative units, and publishes on a regular basis. Its purpose is to give readers material for thinking for themselves about the "options" that are available. It does not support any political position.
Editorial policy
- Neutrality: This site neither supports nor defends any particular party, government, person or position.
- Keeping facts and analysis apart: Facts are written together with their sources. Where analysis is given, it is kept distinct from the facts and presented as several scenarios.
- Showing sources: Articles are written from public records (statistics, survey reports, white papers, legislation, minutes and the like) that have been consulted. Sources are noted in the body text, and the name and URL of each source are listed under "Sources" at the end of the article. Clicking a URL opens the original document directly.
- Distinguishing public records from non-governmental sources: Public records are those issued by governments, parliaments, courts, central banks, independent agencies, local governments and intergovernmental organisations. Everything else (news media, companies, think tanks, universities, academic journals, NGOs and the like) is treated as a non-governmental source and used with lower priority. Each article states at its end which kinds were used.
- How names are written: Names of institutions, political parties and persons follow the name that the institution or other body itself officially uses in each language, where one exists. At the first mention in an article, the name in the original language is added in parentheses.
How articles are produced by AI
The articles on this site are written by AI.
- Topics are chosen from a list kept by the site's administrator.
- AI consults public records and writes the article in Japanese.
- The Japanese article is translated automatically into English, Chinese (Simplified), French, Spanish and Arabic.
No person reads an article before it is published. Japanese is the original; the versions in the other five languages are machine translations. For this reason, there may be errors both in the content of an article and in its translations.
Every article shows "Written by AI" near its title and carries one of the following at its end.
- "This article was written by AI from public records and translated automatically."
- "This article was written by AI from public records and non-governmental sources, and translated automatically."
Correction policy
- Each article shows the date as of which its information stands. Later developments may not be reflected in the article.
- When an error is found, the article is corrected, and the date and content of the correction are recorded under "Corrections" on that article. The corrections appear in all six language versions.
